Day 194
"Soooooo...are you going to barbecue fest?" he asked.
"Uuuuuuum, I haven't decided yet."
"Well, in case you're not, [so and so] is playing a free concert at Levitt Shell tonight."
"That sounds like fun..."
"Yeah...they had me at 'free.'"
"Haha, 'free' always draws me in, too!"
"If I didn't have to work tomorrow, I'd be there, downtown, but I'll be here...peddlin' booze."
I laughed.
"I'll be there tonight...tall guy, red shirt. Maybe I'll see you."
I walked away, smiling, liking how he left it open-ended, not asking for my number or pushing for anything.
I figure I complain enough about the gross 60 year-old men in my life that it's high time to give some credit elsewhere. A few times recently there have been guys flirting with me. Nothing grotesque in nature or humiliating or derogatory. Just guys who make me laugh. And I think that's important to recognize.
Can't complain about the bad and not recognize the good. There are some guys out there who flirt a little, leave the ball in the girl's court, not being pressing, demanding, or disgusting. Just good honest flirting.
I've been appreciative of the guys God has maneuvered in my life, even if just for a moment to show that if even some men are attracted to you they're not going to push the envelope to get to you.
I need to see that. Because I was losing faith in mankind.
