Day 315

I think you can almost always tell what someone hasn’t gone through by the jokes they make.  Because I'm pretty sure if they knew how much it hurt, they wouldn’t make jokes about it.

…about the dirty people who have STDs.
…about the slutty girls who have had abortions.
…about the crazy person with Schizophrenia.
…about foodstamps.
…about being poor.
…about living in the ghetto.

I’m not perfect in this.  I’ve surely said my own hurtful comments.  But every time someone says or tweets or laughs about something that hurts me, it becomes even more of a weight on my heart to keep my “funny” thoughts to myself.

What makes you laugh may make another cry.  And they may have spent many nights of their life crying over it.

If we're trying to be like Jesus...what are the words we wouldn't hear coming out of his mouth?

Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruits (Proverbs 18:21).

But what comes out of the mouth proceeds from the heart, and this defiles a person (Matthew 15:18).

There is one whose rash words are like sword thrusts, but the tongue of the wise brings healing (Proverbs 12:18).
